David Walliams confirms he is open to finding love with a MAN

The funnyman has never been shy about talking about his sexuality

| Updated:

Viewers have been rather vocal recently about David Walliams’ tendency to camp things up and play gay on BGT!

Some have taken to social media to express their disapproval, branding his behaviour as “demeaning’ and “offensive”.

One said: “Walliams pimps homosexuality so frivolously. Why does everyone accept it?!”

While another said: “Genuinely very rude how David Walliams is like HAHA BEING GAY IS HILARIOUS, kind of like demeaning!”

But those grumpy armchair critics were silenced over the weekend, when the rib tickling funnyman opened up about his sexuality.

In a very candid interview with a newspaper, the author of the critically acclaimed kids book The Boy In the Dress, said that he ‘wouldn’t rule out’ a same-sex relationship in the future.

“I wouldn’t totally rule it out,” he said on the subject of finding love with a fella.

“I had gay experiences growing up, which I enjoyed. I was a teen and in a lot of all-male environments. I am naturally very camp.”

Although he is open about having an interest in men, he admits girls still tickle his fancy!

“I’m attracted to women,” he told the People. “Sometimes I think it would be simpler if I wasn’t because people think I’m gay and I’m camp. It would just be quite easy but I do find women really, really attractive.’

David was previously married to model Lara Stone with whom he has three-year-old son Alfred, but has never been shy about discussing sexuality.

Back in 2013, the Little Britain star said he believed that “things can change for people over the years” when it comes to sexual preferences and said that he thought love is about falling for someone’s “soul, heart and brain”.

“I think it’s all about falling in love with the person and that is overlooked, really,” he wisely said.

“I hate it when people ‘confess’ or ‘reveal’ their sexuality and also things can change for people over the years.

“So it is about the person but I also think it goes beyond that. You don’t just fall in love with someone’s body, do you? You fall in love with someone’s soul and heart and brain.”
