Coronation Street has been awarded the dubious accolade of most complained about soap of the past 12 months.
It’s been reported that in the period ending March 2017, Ofcom received 1,204 complaints about the Weatherfield-set soap. That’s a big 150 more than last year.

Emmerdale also attracted more objections than previously, receiving 789, which is 356 more.
Both EastEnders and Hollyoaks saw a reduction in complaints with ‘Enders getting 335, down from 348, and Hollyoaks only having 26 from their previous 41.
Corrie suffered thanks to Eva Price’s ill-advised comment about her roots causing a stir – 473 people complained about that moment.
The blonde barmaid was sitting in Audrey’s salon in August 2016 when she said: “I have more roots than Kunta Kinte.
“No idea who that is by the way, just something my mum used to say.”
At the time Ofcom cleared her saying it “reflected the foolishness, and lack of sensitivity and cultural awareness of her character.”
The report went on to say it was “consistent with the audience’s expectations of her character.”

Emmerdale’s figures didn’t include the recent 180 complaints about Aaron Dingle’s prison abuse storyline.
The episode in question featured a day in Aaron’s life behind bars. During the half hour show he was taunted about the abuse he suffered at the hands of his father Gordon as well as being beaten up.
Ofcom later cleared the soap saying “the violence was appropriately limited and clear warnings were provided at the start of the programme.”
EastEnders complaints were mainly about the use of bad language. In scenes between Michelle and Sharon, several swear words were blurted out before the watershed, leading 86 people to complain.
