Louis Walsh and Nicole Scherzinger ‘will return X Factor for the third time’

The new series starts later this year

Louis Walsh and Nicole Scherzinger will reportedly return to The X Factor as judges for the third time.

The show is expected to return later this year for a celebrity version of the singing competition, The X Factor: All Stars.

According to The Sun, the pair are in “advanced discussions” about making a comeback to the panel alongside boss Simon Cowell.

Nicole and Louis have both been dropped twice before.

Louis last appeared on the show on the 14th series in 2017 but didn’t return for last year’s edition.

Before that, he was a judge on the show for 10 years after joining the show back in 2004.

Meanwhile, Nicole first joined in 2012 and left the panel in 2014. She then returned in 2016 and was dropped again for the 2018 series.

Louis, 66, previously revealed he was hopeful about a return but wanted Sharon Osbourne to make a comeback with him.

Asked about the possibility of returning to The X Factor, Louis confessed to the Mirror: “I’m speaking to Simon. Let’s see.

“Sharon would be great. She’s burnt a few bridges, but that’s what’s good about her – she has an opinion. She’s never boring or predictable.”

Sharon’s hopes of returning to the show appeared to end in 2018, when she said she’d “put a [expletive] brick” around Simon’s neck and then “throw him over”.

However, Louis is confident that Simon and Sharon – who previously starred together on the talent show – can rebuild their professional relationship.

He explained: “She was only joking. It was all panto talk. They will make up. I’m going to mediate between them. I’ll do anything necessary.”

Louis also praised Simon, explaining that fame and success hasn’t changed him as a man.

Louis said: “He’s never changed. Only thing that has is his face.”

Celebrities that are reportedly in talks to compete on the show include Gemma Collins, Amanda Holden, Caroline Flack, Megan McKenna and John Barrowman.
