Little Mix star Perrie Edwards is bookies’ favourite to be judge on The X Factor

A string of other names have been thrown into the mix

Perrie Edwards is the bookies’ favourite to be a new judge on this year’s X Factor.

Robbie Williams and his wife Ayda announced on Friday they had quit the show after being part of the judging panel for one series, while Louis Tomlinson also recently admitted he’s “less likely” to return as a judge on the show.

A string of names have been thrown into the mix to join the judging panel alongside boss Simon Cowell, including Alesha Dixon, Louis Walsh, Cheryl, Craig David, Alexandra Burke, Aston Merrygold, Cher Lloyd and Britney Spears.

However, Perrie is currently the favourite to join the show as a judge.

Coral’s John Hill told The Sun: “It will be all change on the judges’ seats on X Factor this year after Robbie and Ayda left the show and all the early money in our betting has been for Perrie Edwards to take up one of the spots on the panel.

“Louis Walsh and Cheryl Cole have been backed to make returns to the show, as Simon Cowell may look for familiar faces this year as he battles to boost the ratings.”

It comes after Robbie and Ayda announced they had decided to quit the show.

A joint post on Robbie’s Instagram read: “Sadly though it’s impossible to do everything … and we’re gutted to tell you we won’t be able to return to The X Factor this year. (sic)”

But the married couple will still be working with Simon on other projects.

They added: “We will, however, be working on projects with Simon going forward – and as huge fans of the show, we will still be tuning into The X Factor, voting and winding Simon up…x. (sic)”

The couple’s announcement comes just a day after Louis admitted he is “less likely” to return to The X Factor panel this year because the show may clash with his album work.

He said during an appearance on Lorraine: “He [show boss Simon Cowell] hasn’t called me yet.

“I had an amazing experience on the show last year, but if it’s going to get in the way of my mission for this year, which is releasing the album, then it’s probably going to be less likely.”
