The Voice confirms Craig David and Black Eyed Peas as the first celebrity mentors

More talent joins the show!

As if The Voice UK wasn’t already brimming with talent, ITV1 have just announced the first in the line-up of celebrity mentors… and they’re good!

The famous mentors joining The Voice UK coaches for the crucial knockouts this year include Craig David and the Black Eyed Peas’ apl.de.app and Taboo.

Craig, who has enjoyed a second coming in recent years, will advise coach Olly Murs before they take to the stage for the nerve-wracking knockout round.

And it’s no wonder that Olly got Craig on board… The pair have been friends since first meeting on a charity desert trek for Comic Relief in Kenya in 2011.

Of his friend, Olly said: “Craig is amazing, we have known each other a long time. I have been a fan of him as an artist from an early age and it is great I can now call him a friend.

“He’s also got so much experience in the industry and with that he will really give me some great constructive feedback on my acts and help me make the right decision.”

Craig, in turn, adds: “I know he is really passionate about everyone on his team and it’s going to be a hard decision for him to choose who to put through.”

Meanwhile, will.i.am is joined by his own bandmates, fellow Black Eyed Peas members apl.de.ap and taboo.

He says: “There are no better folks for me to have mentor my team because we have mentored each other.

“We mentored each other when nobody really believed in us and we went on to do impossible things.”

The mentors join the coaches during the knockout stage piano rehearsals giving advice to each act after hearing them sing.

Each coach has six acts going into the kockouts but only two per team will make it through to the Semi-Final.
