Strictly: Viewers praise Jamie Laing as he congratulates Kelvin Fletcher on Glitterball win

The replacement won!

Ex-Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher may have waltzed off with the Strictly Glitterball trophy, but he has one other person to thank for his victory.

When Made In Chelsea’s Jamie Laing broke his foot during rehearsals, Kelvin was a last-minute replacement.

And now Jamie, 31, has congratulated Kelvin on his big win.

Jamie took to Twitter to congratulate his replacement.

“Congratulations to @kelvin_fletcher and @OtiMabuse,” he wrote.

“You guys rocked it!!

“Thank god for my broken foot.”

Many of his 862,000 followers rushed to praise him after his generous message.

“Hope you are first call up for next year,” one wrote.

Another said: “I love you Jamie but – yes thank god because I have never seen dancing like these two! Wow”

“Thank you for having a sense of humour about it too!” a third wrote.

Oh bless you. Please do it next year.

Finally, a follower commented: “Oh bless you. Please do it next year, with @OtiMabuse of course. Was looking forward to seeing you.”

After his win, a tearful Kelvin said: “Oti, thank you for the most amazing experience of my life.

“Thank you to Emma and Karim, Anton and Amy, all the pros and celebrities, the judges, all the production team, and thank you to everybody at home, I feel so proud to be part of this, so from the bottom of my heart, thank you.”

The star has now reached out again to thank everybody for the part they played in his win with a post on Twitter.
