Strictly judges set to ‘help choose Darcey Bussell’s replacement’

A meeting with the show's bosses is said to be imminent...

The judges on Strictly Come Dancing are used to making big decisions – every week while the show is on, they have the final say on who stays and who goes.

But it sounds like Craig Revel-Horwood, Shirley Ballas and Bruno Tonioli are about to be presented with their biggest conundrum to date.

According to one newspaper, the three remaining judges are to be consulted on who should replace the departing Darcey Bussell.

Ballet legend Darcey, who’s been a member of the Strictly judging panel for seven series, announced last month that she’ll be leaving the show to concentrate on other dancing commitments.

Ever since, fans of the programme have been speculating on who her replacement will be, whether it’ll be a man or a woman, and who’ll be making the decision.

Well, who better to have their say than Craig, Shirley and Bruno?

According to The Sun’s Dan Wootton a meeting is being held next month, and the judges will be invited to contribute their opinions on the show – and on Darcey’s replacement.

The executives will still have the final say, but they want to judges to be happy with their choice.

The article goes on to say that Carlos Acosta is top of the shortlist, with viewers’ favourite Anton Du Beke less likely to land the role as his audition to replace Len Goodman in 2017 was “lacklustre”.

Whoever replaces Darcey, it won’t be the only change to the popular BBC show this year.

There will also be a new professional dancer to replace the outgoing Pasha Kovalev.

And there will also be a new-look Glitterball trophy. The iconic gong will now sit on a larger base, enabling more winners’ names to be added.

Only a few more months to wait!
