Strictly Come Dancing wants a ROYAL for new series

Who wouldn't want to see Fergie tango?

Strictly Come Dancing will be getting a royal boost if show bosses get their way – according to reports, bosses are hoping to add a member of the royal family to the line up of this year’s series.

The Sunday Mirror claims that producers have put together a wish list for the new series, in the hope that a royal contestant will lift ratings.

The wish list includes Zara Phillips and her husband, Mike Tindall.

Bosses are also considering the Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, Sophie, Countess of Wessex, and Lady Louise Windsor.

According to The Mirror’s source, show bosses are confident they can persuade someone from their royal wish list to join the show.

“Strictly is a proper family show and hugely respected, so bosses think it wouldn’t be a problem for a royal to take to the dance floor,” they said.

Several members of the royal family, including Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, are known to be fans of the show already, which may make it more appealing for one of them to be part of the show.

The Countess of Wessex and Lady Louise have both appeared in the audience of the show.

It wouldn’t be the first time a member of the royal family has been in a reality show – Mike appeared in season 2 of The Jump, back in 2015.

In fact, the rugby player took to the show so well, he ended his stint as runner up, coming second to TOWIE star Joey Essex.

There has been no official word on whether a royal may grace the dance floor this year yet, with an official spokesperson for Strictly refusing to comment.

“We don’t comment on speculation and the line-up will be announced in due course,” they said.
