Strictly: Emma Weymouth opens up on traumatic health scare

She's unable to have children

Viscountess Emma Weymouth has recently opened up about her secret health scare which meant that she can no longer have another baby via natural means.

Emma, 33, is competing on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing and has revealed her difficult journey to finally becoming a mother.

The Viscountess revealed that when she was pregnant with her first child in 2014, she ended up suffering from a life-threatening condition called hypophysitis.

The condition causes swelling in the pituitary gland, and it led to Emma suffering bleeding in her brain which meant that he had to have an emergency Caesarean section in order to give birth to her first son, John.

Emma told Hello! magazine: “I still cry when I talk about it because it was so upsetting,” and she also spoke of how “traumatic” the whole experience was.

Emma was subsequently warned by medical professionals not to have another baby naturally, which is why she and her husband, Viscount Ceawlin Thynn, opted to go via surrogacy.

This is how they had their second son, Harry, who was born in 2016, and Emma was very positive about the whole process.

She told Hello!: “Other people have asked me for advice and then gone ahead and used a surrogate.

“Pregnancy is the most amazing thing, but some people experience difficulties along the way and my pregnancy was extremely challenging.

“But luckily, we had this other option and now we have our beautiful boys.”
