Strictly Come Dancing couple Katya and Neil Jones reveal they’d like to adopt a child

But they're in no rush!

Strictly couple, Katya and Neil Jones have spoken about their plans to start a family, saying they’re considering adoption.

Speaking in this week’s issue of OK! magazine, professional dancer Neil revealed: “We’d like a couple [of children] and also want to look into adopting.”

But Neil, 35, and Katya, 28, who married in August 2013, aren’t in any rush.

Katya said: “Not soon! My mum’s on my case. [Fellow pro dancer] Karen Hardy told me there’s never a right time to have kids, you just have to throw yourself into it.”

The loved-up pair, who have both been regulars on the BBC show since 2016, also spoke about how they met and fell for each other on the dancefloor, saying it definitely wasn’t love at first sight.

They met ten years ago in 2008, at a dance competition, where they were introduced by their coach, Richard Porter.

They began dancing together and quickly became world champions, but it took a little longer for the romance to take off.

Neil said: “I found out later that she tried to pass me off to one of her friends!”

Katya confirmed: “I thought I liked him but I wasn’t quite sure. I told my friend he was really nice but she wasn’t interested.”

Katya’s first year on the show was a memorable one, as she was paired with Ed Balls. The pair went viral when they danced the Gangnam Style, and were even nominated for a Bafta for it.

At the time, the ex-Labour MP, Ed said of Katya: “She’s a genius and a brilliant teacher and a great choreographer.”

The pair have stayed very good friends, and Ed even visited Katya in training and on set the following year.

But it meant big shoes to fill for Holby City actor Joe McFadden, who was Katya’s dance partner for the latest series.

But the pair had amazing chemistry, and took home the glitterball trophy in December.

In fact, for their final dance, to You Make My Dreams by Daryl Hall & John Oates, the Scottish actor got down on one knee to ‘pop the question’ to Katya.

Head Judge Shirley Ballas said: “I think you are a true Prince Charming today. I know it’s this young lady’s first time in the final and you’ve made her wish come true today.”

Bruno added: “Definitely the King and Queen of the ball.”
