Strictly Come Dancing allegedly set to axe one of its professional female dancers

Four stars are reportedly in the firing line

Strictly bosses caused a bit of a hoo-ha back in January by announcing that they wouldn’t be renewing Brendan Cole’s contract.

The popular pro had appeared on every series of the BBC dancing show since it started in 2004.

And according to a report published today, those executives are sharpening the axe again, with one of the programme’s female dancers allegedly next in line for the chop.

According to The Sun Online, Strictly chiefs want to refresh the line-up for this year’s series, which is due to start in September.

And the report suggests that one of four female dancers could be following Brendan, 41, out of the door.

The names given are Katya Jones – who won the 2017 series alongside Holby City actor Joe McFadden – Dianne Buswell, Amy Dowden and Chloe Hewitt.

It’s speculated that their place on the show could be taken by either Lolly Campbell, Charlie Bruce, Luba Mushtuk or Jasmine Takacs.

The news website quoted a source as saying: “Brendan’s axe was a real shock but he won’t be the only change.

“The four potential dancers are all well liked, and it’s just a case of deciding who’s the best fit.”

“There’s plenty of gossip among the pros about what might happen, and everyone is anxious over whether it could be them.”

The story states that a decision is expected “soon”.

Earlier this week, The Sun Online reported that Shirley Ballas had come to an “agreement” with Strictly chiefs to return as head judge this year.

According to a source: “Shirley and the BBC wanted to do another series, so everyone’s chuffed they’ve come to an agreement. The whole panel is coming back.”

Back in February, Brendan Cole scotched rumours that he’d been sacked from Strictly for asking Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, for a dance during the show’s Christmas special – after the cast had allegedly been briefed not to.

His spokesman told the Mirror: “I can confirm that these assertions are absolutely, categorically untrue. There was no such brief from the BBC.”

Entertainment Daily has contacted the BBC for a statement about the alleged professional dancers’ shake up.
