Kevin Clifton from Strictly Come Dancing has revealed the moment he was left red-faced after someone took him to be a stripper.
The professional dancer, 36, recently spoke about his work as a property investor and opened up about an embarrassing incident during a training course.
He told Rob Moore, host of The Disruptive Entrepreneur podcast, that it happened on a course about speaking when he found himself at a table with a group of strangers.
Everyone was introducing themselves, telling the others their names and what they do professionally.
Kevin said: "I was really shy. People were going, 'Hi, what's your name?' and I was going, 'My name's Kevin'. And this lovely lady next to me asked me, 'What do you do?'"
He explained that he was asked if the property business was his full-time job, and when he admitted it wasn't, the woman asked about his other line of work.
Kevin told her, rather evasively, that he was self-employed and continued on the podcast: "It wasn't within me to say to her, 'Well, I'm one of the most successful professionals on Strictly Come Dancing! Did you not see my hips as I walked in?'"
Because I'd been so embarrassed about it, she assumed I was some sort of stripper!
He said the woman then told him that it seemed he was evading talking about his job.
He continued: "In the end, I said, 'I'm a dancer' and just sort of left it there. And because I'd been so embarrassed about it, she assumed I was some sort of stripper!"
Speaking further, he said she asked if he dances "like in the clubs". Red faced, he told her no and she eventually realised that he was a pro on Strictly.
Kevin raised more than a few eyebrows when his on-screen friendship with his celeb partner in last year's series, Stacey Dooley, turned to romance.
Earlier this month, the documentary maker opened up about the decision to keep her relationship with Kevin under wraps, telling The Guardian: "Kev and I have agreed not to go into too much detail about our private lives because you can’t really indulge that and then ask for privacy."
