Strictly Come Dancing 2019: ‘Gaffe-prone’ BBC presenter Mike Bushell ‘signs up for new series’

Another BBC Breakfast presenter?

As the new series of Strictly Come Dancing edges into view, rumours of celebs signing up for this year’s competition intensify each week.

The Mirror reports that the latest celeb to be linked to the series is BBC News sports presenter Mike Bushell, who is said to be ‘gaffe-prone’.

Mike, 53, has been a popular presenter on the BBC – both on the news channel and BBC Breakfast.

If confirmed, Mike is set to follow in the footsteps of former BBC Breakfast stars Chris Hollins and Ore Oduba, who both won the Glitterball.

The dad of three is famous for his humour and his easy charm. He once ran six marathons in six days and has appeared in Sport Relief show And They’re Off.

But Mike is also famous for his on-air gaffes.

Last year, Mike was preparing to chat to five England swimmers on BBC Breakfast.

The swimmers were sitting on the edge of a small pool on Australia’s Gold Coast, where the Commonwealth Games were being held.

And as Mike got into the shallow water for the chat, he said: “I’m going to be careful because I’ve got a sound pack on.”

Yesterday (July 26), presenter Anneka Rice became the latest celeb to be linked to this year’s series of Strictly.

TV veteran Anneka shot to fame with her BBC show Challenge Anneka, which ran from 1989 to 1995, so she is certainly not afraid of a new challenge.

The 60-year-old broadcaster is said to have been approached for the BBC show last year but didn’t take up the offer. However, this year bosses have reportedly managed to convince the star to take part.

Made In Chelsea’s Jamie Lang has also been linked to the show.
