Anton du Beke tipped to PRESENT Strictly Come Dancing

Could dancer could change roles?

Anton du Beke could take over as host of Strictly Come Dancing, according to one of his former co-stars.

James Jordan believes the veteran dancing pro will never leave the BBC show like he has.

Instead, he thinks the 52-year-old will take on a different role if he starts to feel “too old” to train a celebrity partner.

Ahead of the Dancing On Ice final which he’s a part of on ITV this evening, James said when asked if Anton could ever leave Strictly: “No, Anton is part of the furniture. I just think that maybe he could go back at some point in a different capacity.”

Clarifying further what he meant to the Express, he said: “Maybe as a judge or presenting or something. But I do feel he is part of what Strictly is.

“The same as Brucie was, the same as Tess was.”

Anton won’t be taking over as a presenter or judge just yet as he’ll be back on this year’s show as a dancer.

He is one of the professionals confirmed to be taking part, as recently announced by the BBC.

Anton’s fans will be delighted he’ll be back, as his routines have often provided some of the most memorable scenes of the show.

Who can forget him bursting out of Susannah Constantine’s skirt, twirling Ann Widdecombe around the dancefloor and styling out Ruth Langsford collapsing on top of him after losing her balance at the end of one routine?!

This isn’t the first time Anton has been tipped to present the show.

After the late Bruce Forsyth stepped down from the role in 2014, many believed Anton could fill his shoes.

But he told Yours he would rather keep dancing.

“If I presented the show I wouldn’t be able to dance and that’s what I love doing the most – it’s the key to everything for me,” he said.

“I’m just as enthusiastic as when Strictly started back in 2004 – maybe that’s why I’m still taking part… I’ve never won but that’s not important to me. I just love being a part of the competition.”

Away from the dancefloor, the ballroom star keeps busy running around after his toddler twins and writing novels.

“So perhaps soon he might not have any energy left for dancing and will prefer a more sedate presenting role!
