Ant and Dec return to acting with Saturday Night Takeaway whodunnit

It seems they may return to where it all began

Ant and Dec are getting back into acting with a new Saturday Night Takeaway whodunnit featuring a string of famous faces.

The nation’s favourite presenting duo began their careers playing schoolboys PJ and Duncan in teen drama Byker-Grove, before turning to music and then becoming presenters.

But it seems doing their sketches on SNT has the pair considering a return to the acting world.

Joanne Lumley will join Ant and Dec in The Honoured, a sequel to their last whodunit The Missing Crown Jewels.

The short mystery film gave the presenters a chance to revisit their acting past.

“We love it,” Ant told The Sun. “That’s where we started. It’s a slightly different discipline and it reminds us of being back on Byker Grove.”

“Last year we took the best of Who Shot Simon Cowell? and The Missing Crown Jewels and created a one-off programme which was on ITV over Christmas, and that went down really well,” Dec added.

“So we’ll do the same with this one and then we might look at spreading it out and doing a few brand-new specials.”

Could they end up swapping presenting for acting in the future?

The show returns for its 15th series on ITV tonight.

Their new sketch will see the duo turn into detectives after members of The Honoured, a top secret service, start mysteriously disappearing.

The Geordie pair recently revealed they accidentally crashed monster trucks into walls as part of a test run for a new show challenge.

Both lads are no doubt keen to make a winning start to their Ant V Dec challenge series.

However, fans will hope they don’t go too hard with their stunt after going through some expensive mishaps while practising.

Dec revealed on Friday’s This Morning: “We’ve got a monster truck race tomorrow, that is big and dangerous.”

“We had to give it a go earlier and we both crashed quite badly earlier today,” he added. “”It was quite bad.”
