But despite making it to the end, Piers previously admitted that his 52-year-old GMB co-star almost pulled out of the show before flying to Australia.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain, he revealed: “Kate rang me about three or four weeks ago when she first got approached.

“She said, ‘What do you think?’ and I said, ‘Do you know what, you should absolutely do it’.

“I said, ‘If you do this show, you can hang out for three weeks in the jungle’.”

He added: “I think she is going to be very hard working. People will love her. She is going to be all the gritty things you need.”

Earlier this week, Kate faced the Frightseers Bushtucker Trial on her own and impressed fans by facing her fears to win a respectable five out of seven stars for camp.

Can she go all the way? Piers certainly hopes so!
