Channel 4 viewers were in stitches last night at Celebrity Gogglebox – with Rylan’s mum proving to be a surprise hit on the show.
Fans couldn’t get enough of the TV presenter and his mum Linda, apparently enjoying her banter with her son about shopping deliveries and hay fever even more than her verdicts on the week’s telly.
“Who’s Ricardo?” she asked in her first scene on the Friday night favourite, mishearing Rylan’s reaction to a notification about a forthcoming Ocado delivery.
And after Linda seemed to seamlessly pivot the conversation to what Rylan was wearing after he didn’t agree with her over her approach to explaining the birds and the bees, he quipped: “Don’t try and change the subject, Mel B.”

Linda also tickled those watching at home by sniggering at x-rated scenes from comedy film American Pie and by picking over Rylan’s pronunciation of “didn’t”.

With mock-outrage, Rylan fired back: “Who the [bleep] are you all of a sudden, the Queen of Sheba? You come out of Stepney Green!”
Reacting to the awkward viewing moment shared by son and mum, one viewer empathised: “Rylan sat watching American Pie with his mum is literally me #CelebrityGogglebox.”
Another amused observer added: “Rylan & his mum need their own show.. too funny 😊.”
