She wrote: “Absolutely devastated & embarrassed, my heart is broken but when I went down I thought of @gypsyking101 Tyson Fury and knew I had to get back up & carry on!

“Can’t thank you enough for your support on social media and picking up the phone to vote! I’m in a lot of pain but bring on fantasy week!!!”

Fans rushed to comment on the post, with many praising Gemma for getting back up and carrying on after her fall.

One person said: “Well done for getting back up. I don’t think I could have. Respect.”

Another wrote: “You were amazing Gemma! At least you got back up with a smile on your face, a true inspiration,” while a third added: “No need to feel embarrassed! You did amazing.”

On Sunday night, Gemma’s boyfriend James ‘Arg’ Argent posted a video to his Instagram Stories showing Gemma’s bruised legs.

In the clip, he said: “Gemma’s legs are terrible, look. All around her knees. They’re in a bad, bad way.”

Moving the camera to her left knee, he added: “That one isn’t that bad. But this one [her right knee], I’m worried about.”

It comes after he admitted he was worried Gemma was knocked unconscious after her fall.

After the show, Arg shared a snap of himself, Gemma and Matt on the ice.

Arg wrote: “I LOVE YOU @gemmacollins1.

“When I saw her fall like that face first I honestly thought she might be unconscious or lost some teeth! The way she got up & carried on was AMAZING!!!”

He added: “You worked so hard this week GC & have done us so proud! You’ve improved so much!”

Matt also praised Gemma, saying he’s “very proud” that she got back up and finished off the routine.

He said on his Instagram Stories: “We did it. We got through another week. Thank you guys so much. Wow, she absolutely smashed that performance and at the end, she smashed herself.

“I’m very, very proud of her. I know she feels embarrassed but hey-ho. I’ve been skating for 30 years and I fall all the time. It happens, you’ve got kitchen knives on the bottom of your feet.

“But well done Gemma. Thank you guys so much for all the love and support. See you guys next week.”
