Dancing On Ice fans enchanted as first trailer for new series is revealed

Minute-long magical animation is a hit with viewers online

Anticipation is building for Dancing On Ice devotees ahead of the new launch – and a magical new ad has got fans even more excited about skating celebrities.

Telling a short story about a music box fairy and a toy astronaut figure that come to life for a romantic routine on a makeshift rink away from the eyes of humans.

The minute-long animation has received a very warm response online, with DOI stars among those to be thrilled to see it.

Upcoming contestants Trisha Goddard, Caprice and magician Ben Hanlin also remarked on how hyped the ad made them.

“HERE WE GO!!!!!!” said Ben.

Such a gorgeous advert.

“So excited!!,” added Caprice.

And Trish enthused: “Eeeeek!”

Another commenter added: “Loving the new advert for #doi 2020.”

“Such a gorgeous advert,” said another.

And a third person remarked: “This is amazing!!!! So excited for this. Anyone else think the toys are supposed to be @torvillanddeanofficial.”

But not every viewer of the ad was quite as enchanted.

One person whinged on Twitter: “What a [bleep] trailer.”

Also confirmed to be taking to the rink for the new series are Diversity’s Perri Kiely, Love Island‘s Maura Higgins, Michael Barrymore, ITV News presenter Lucrezia Millarini and Steps singer Ian ‘H’ Watkins.

Coronation Street actress Lisa George, Paralympian Libby Clegg, TV presenter Joe Swash and former footballer Kevin Kilbane have also signed up.

The 2020 series will also see John Barrowman join Torvill and Dean and Ashley on the judging panel.

The show is expected to begin airing on ITV in January.
