This Morning viewers defend Prince William after debate on his ‘traumatic hair loss’

Should the future king be allowed to go bald?

Viewers of This Morning have leapt to the defence of our future monarch Prince William after a debate on his bonce.

On Wednesday (May 29), Eamonn Holmes and wife Ruth Langsford hosted a debate entitled “Should Prince William be allowed to go bald?”

Joining the couple in the debate were former X Factor star Chris Maloney – who recently spent £5,000 on a hair transplant – and bald broadcaster James Whale.

The discussion followed comments made by West Wing actor Rob Lowe who recently joked it had been “traumatic” to watch the 36-year-old royal lose his hair.

Ouch!

While 55-year-old actor Rob is lucky enough to still have a full head of hair, William isn’t as hirsute as he once was.

While Chris, 41, compared criticising a man’s hair loss to ‘body shaming’, James said he was “seething with hatred for Rob Lowe”.

Viewers watching from home were exasperated with the debate, however, with one saying: “Prince William, along with Harry, are doing great things about men’s mental health and awareness but all they can bang their gums about is ‘is it okay for him to be bald?’ Honestly I despair. #ThisMorning.”

Another wrote: “Am I reading this right? ‘Should Prince William be ALLOWED to go bald?’ Is that a real question? If the question was ‘Should Kate Middleton be allowed to go grey?’ there would be outrage. Of course he should be ‘allowed’ to let NATURE take its course #thismorning.”

A third said: “Don’t think Rob Lowe is in a position to talk with the work he’s had done. Plenty of men are happy bald and it doesn’t bother them one bit (also saves money at the barbers). Bit rude discussing William’s lack of hair. #ThisMorning.”

“Hollywood actor #RobLowe is getting on my nerves a bit,” agreed one more. “He shouldn’t even feel the need to express his views on our future King’s head. So what if Prince William is bald? It’s a natural part of life.”

“The crown will cover it anyway,” joked another, while one took it more seriously, slamming the show for making baldness sound “weird” and “treating it like an illness”.

During the debate, James said having hair “was no benefit to him”, while Chris showed off the results of his recent hair transplant.

Talking about Prince William, he said: “He suits his hair like that and I think being a royal, he can be seen as endorsing it.

“Mine was completely different, my hair loss was through mental health, I lost my confidence and self-esteem.

“I had stress-induced hair loss and that’s how I lost it and it never ever grew back.”

He continued: “That’s what starts off the trolls, I mean if William wanted he could have done it many years ago.

“When I started to lose mine, I started to treat it discreetly, but I mean I’ve now had seven [hair transplants] in the past five years.

“I wasn’t satisfied with the first two, so they were corrective. 10 days ago I had the last one.”
