This Morning opens with technical blunder as blue title card appears on viewers’ screens

What happened?

ITV’s This Morning was hit with a brief technical fault today during its opening credits.

As the latest episode got underway at 10.30am on Wednesday morning (July 24), viewers found themselves looking at a silent blue title card instead of hearing the programme’s iconic theme song.

The screen contained the date and a 20-second countdown over the words: ‘NTA & BAFTA winners 2019.’

Before the timer reached zero, it cut to part of the opening credits and then to co-hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford as the show carried on as normal.

On Twitter, voiceover artist and presenter Greg Scott tweeted a snap of the blue title card and poked fun at ITV for including the awards mention.

He wrote: “They’re so proud of their awards, they clang on about them even when it’s something the viewers aren’t meant to see!”

Elsewhere on today’s programme, the hosts discussed the girlfriend of new Prime Minister Boris Johnson, met French fashion designer Jean-Paul Gaultier and got to see pop singer Lisa Stansfield perform her late ’80s hit All Around The World.

They also chatted with former Love Island star Kem Cetinay, who was on to discuss the explosive drama in the villa last night.

Ruth said: “Another dramatic night in the villa. Ooh, it kicked off, didn’t it!”

Kem replied: “I was a little bit shocked, were you shocked, Ruth, with what happened with Jordan?”

They were referring to islander Jordan Hames’ confession that he has feelings for fellow hopeful India – just days after making his relationship with Anna official by becoming her boyfriend.

Jordan said to India: “Just wanted to pull you because, this is a bit of a tough conversation to have with you but we need to have it.

“Obviously I know that you are getting on with Ovie, I’m not trying to get in the way of that, but I feel like I just need to get some of this off my chest.

“I feel, like, over the past couple of days I’ve found myself gravitating towards you and looking forward to bumping into you in the kitchen, washing up and stuff.”

But India didn’t feel the same way, as she told him: “You’re my mate in here…”

Anna was fuming when she found out, raging to Jordan: “You just asked me out and you like her?! Is that how much of a [expletive] idiot you are?”
