Prince Charles and Camilla join Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on This Morning sofa

Special segment will air later this week

| Updated:

There were some VERY special guests on This Morning’s sofa today – none other than Prince Charles and his wife Camilla.

The two royals visited the ITV studio to meet Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield as part of the breakfast show’s 30th-anniversary celebrations, although their segment won’t be shown until Thursday.

And it’s fair to say that Holly was more than a little excited to come face to face with such VIP visitors.

After Charles and Camilla had left, the blonde presenter, 36, posted an exuberant message on Instagram.

Alongside a photo of the four of them together (presumably to prove that it actually happened!), Holly wrote: “Well, that was quite a morning! @thismorning by royal appointment…

“Thank you to his Royal Highness the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall for popping in…”

And Holly’s followers were soon making jokes about the two presenters having to watch their conduct during the regal visit.

One quipped: “Bet you two were on your best behaviour.”

Another teased Holly about her outfit, saying: “No mini-skirts this morning.”

And a third said of Phillip: “I love how @schofe has got a suit on. Amazing x.”

Holly’s post didn’t mention exactly what was said during the exclusive appearance, but last week Phillip told viewers what to expect.

He announced: “Charles and Camilla will discover more about This Morning’s successful campaigns and meet other members of the ITV daytime family as the couple mark the 90th birthday of the Royal Television Society, of which Prince Charles is a patron.

“We’re also going to be asking them to sign – we’ve never done this before – our first visitors’ book, which is going to be filled with pictures and messages from all our guests.

“We’re going to take pictures on this camera, polaroid, old-school.”

Well, we hope you managed to take your snaps, guys, as you might not get another chance!
