Holly Willoughby hits out at guest for involving her in fat shaming debate

Holly wasn't having her name dragged into it

It’s not often Holly Willoughby gets stern on This Morning but on Wednesday morning’s outing, she told a guest off for involving her in a debate about fat shaming.

The show was discussing a viral video currently being shared of a woman on a plane fat shaming the two passengers either side of her.

Fitness writer Danni Levy and plus-size body coach Michelle Bell were in the studio to discuss whether larger passengers should pay more to fly.

Danni believed they should because it costs the airline more in fuel when more weight is added to the plane.

Holly asked Danni if she wanted passengers to be weighed like luggage. Danni agreed she did.

Phil was quick to suggest that wouldn’t make people feel very good about themselves being weighed at the airport in front of skinnier people.

But Danni argued everyone should be weighed alongside their luggage and charged accordingly.

Holly then gave her some facts: “Luke Jensen, who is a researcher at the International Centre for Air Transport, said a 50 pound weight increase would increase fuel consumption by about three dollars.

“It’s a tiny amount, isn’t it?”

Danni replied: “It is but why are you and I having to pay…”

Holly quickly cut her off and firmly told her: “I have no issue with any of this, don’t get me involved.”

Danni, trying to make her point responded: “I didn’t say you did, but you’re small. You’re having to pay huge excess baggage costs.”

Holly then retaliated: “What about when I was pregnant and larger would you have had an issue then? Do pregnant women now have to pay extra because they weigh more?”

“No, I don’t think so because that’s two people that’s alright,” Danni replied.

Michelle then got involved to say that if it was two people then that should mean an extra plane ticket!

Danni had immediately caused uproar from the moment she opened her mouth on the show by saying she felt fat shaming was a positive thing.

Revealing she’d written many real-life stories that then encouraged the people to lose weight, Danni added: “I think that fat shaming is actually saving lives.”

Fans went mad on Twitter over Danni both trying to involve Holly, and claiming she was saving lives with her words.
