Eamonn Holmes jokes about “curse of Strictly” hitting him and Ruth

Ruth also told him to always keep his wedding ring on.

There have been numerous relationships that have failed as a result of the “Strictly curse” but Eamonn Holmes seemed to take a lighthearted attitude to his wife Ruth Langsford joining the dance competition.

The married co-hosts were discussing Ruth’s upcoming Strictly appearance on This Morning.

“Do I have to be in the audience every week?” he asked.

Ruth snapped: “Yes! Stop asking me that!”

Eamonn was quick to add: “If I don’t turn up, they’ll all go, ‘The curse of Strictly has struck!”

“Don’t ever leave your wedding ring off either, like leave it on the side of the basin,” said his wife. “Because you’ll be seen without your wedding ring.”

Eamonn then made mockery of the idea of Ruth getting involved with a male dancer. “Ruth and Oliaff, or Victor or whatever are getting close!” he joked.

Ruth has long been a fan of Strictly, and is delighted to join the show.

“I have dreamt of doing Strictly for so long, I can’t quite believe my dream has come true!” she said.

“The sum of my dance experience is throwing a few shapes at a party, I’ve never had a dance lesson in my life.

“Without doubt it will be the scariest yet most exciting thing I have ever done.

“It will be a welcome change worrying about my next hot move instead of my next hot flush.”

The full Strictly line-up has yet to be revealed, and there are even rumours that Eamonn could be joining his wife on the show.

Betway’s Alan Alger said: “We’ve seen some notable interest in punting on Eamonn Holmes to take to the dance floor. There’s been a bit of momentum building on Twitter.”

We NEED this to happen.
