Eamonn lets rip

Theresa May’s emotional resignation speech provoked sympathy from millions of people up and down the country.

But one person who doesn’t feel as much sympathy as others is Eamonn Holmes.

Presenting today’s episode of This Morning (Friday May 24) alongside Ruth Langsford, Eamonn let rip at the outgoing PM.

During an interview with ITV’s Political Editor Robert Peston, who was reporting live from Downing Street, Eamonn interjected: “I thought it was classic Theresa May, basically saying I did my bit but it was those pesky MPs that spoiled it all.”

After the interview, Ruth asked him if he felt sorry for her.

“No, and I’ll tell you why,” he said.

“It’s not being party political, but I thought it was typical Theresa May. She made it all about her.”

“She’s just saying ‘you’ve got rid of me because I’m brilliant’. She just stood there and told us how brilliant she was,” he continued.

Eamonn then said, “She’s been the worst Prime Minister maybe this country has ever had.”

“All of this trouble is of her own making. She doesn’t listen to people.”

Eamonn’s strong views come after Prime Minster May resigned this morning during an emotional resignation speech.

The Prime Minister, at Number 10 for almost three years, declared “deep regret” at being unable to deliver Brexit.

She also said that, “I will shortly leave the job that it has been my life’s honour to hold.”

Mrs May is due to leave office on June 7.
