Declan Donnelly jokes that ITV bosses force Holly Willoughby to holiday with Schofe

It apparently happened "organically"

TV presenter Declan Donnelly has joked that This Morning bosses force co-hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield to holiday together.

The Saturday Night Takeaway star quipped that there was a clause in the pair’s presenting contract which means they must take at least one sunshine break together every year.

Appearing on the Chris Evans Breakfast Show on Virgin Radio, Dec was asked about his recent trip to Portugal, where he was pictured with Holly and Phil.

Chris quipped: “So is it an ITV thing, is it part of your contracts that you get to come here all together in the sunshine?”

Laughing, Dec said: “Absolutely.”

Dec – who hosted last year’s I’m A Celebrity… alongside Holly – was recently seen enjoying barbecued ribs cooked by This Morning host Phil during their Algarve break.

The presenter was pictured with Phil, Holly, his wife Ali Astall, Phil’s wife Stephanie Lowe and Holly’s husband Dan Baldwin.

Dec revealed: “It’s brilliant and it’s all kind of happened organically.”

He added: “We’ve all holidayed out here in the past and we just seem to meet up here in the August.”

Chris added: “Back at base it does work, because the bonds are there and that permeates throughout all your production teams, they all know that you lot get on and it’s good for business, isn’t it?”

“Yes, absolutely,” Dec said.

Earlier on in the summer, Holly was joined in Portugal by her This Morning pal Rochelle Humes.

So it seems like they really are just one big happy family on the ITV daytime show!
