Eamonn Holmes rants at Ruth Langsford during This Morning

Viewers weren't impressed by his comments

They’ve only just returned to This Morning after an Easter break but already Eamonn Holmes and wife Ruth Langsford have had an awkward exchange.

Eamonn snapped at Ruth just moments into today’s show when she began discussing the possibility of the role of James Bond being played by a woman.

The couple, both 59, were due to have former Bond Girl Madeline Smith on the show to argue why the next James Bond film should have a female lead.

However, Eamonn didn’t seem happy with the idea and cut Ruth off to give his thoughts on the debate.

He ranted: “That’s stupid isn’t it?”

Despite looking rather taken-aback, Ruth held her stance and asked: “Why can’t it be a woman?” to which Eamonn retorted: “Well because he’s a boy’s hero isn’t he?”

Ruth then pointed out: “We’ve got to move with the times haven’t we?”

But Eamonn was having none of it and went on: “Why can’t the women have their own? Why have you got to muscle in on our stuff all the time?

“Leave us alone!”

Poor Ruth then tried to move things along as they revealed what else would be coming up on the show.

Viewers weren’t too impressed by Eamonn’s behaviour towards his wife.

One fan branded him a “pain”, while another added: “How Ruth puts up with him I don’t know.”

Another ranted: “Eamonn speaks to Ruth like absolute (bleep), vile man. Why she puts up with (it) God knows.”

Later in the show Eamonn put Ruth on the spot again and interrupted her while they were interviewing the stars of Line Of Duty.

The Irish presenter spoke over Ruth as he tried to talk about Belfast and its connection to the TV drama.

“Excuse me!” he raged at Ruth, before adding that he was trying to promote his hometown.
