Ofcom receives more than 3,000 complaints over Loose Women’s Kim Woodburn interview

Kim stormed off the set in tears after rowing with Coleen Nolan

| Updated:

More than 3,000 viewers have complained to Ofcom about Wednesday’s episode of Loose Women.

Kim Woodburn, 76, had appeared on the show in the hope of burying the hatchet with Coleen Nolan after the pair fell out on last year’s Celebrity Big Brother.

But the interview resulted in Kim storming off the show’s set in tears after she and Coleen became embroiled in a furious row.

Following the incident, Ofcom confirmed to ED! that the show received 3,297 complaints from angry viewers.

An Ofcom spokesperson said the complaints would be assessed before Ofcom decides whether or not to investigate.

ED! has contacted Loose Women for comment.

When Kim arrived on the set, she said she’d been reluctant to come on Loose Women but had been told Coleen wanted to draw a line under their feud.

She also claimed she’d only come on Loose Women as she’d been paid a “good amount of money”.

Janet Street Porter said it was her understanding Kim had been “happy” to come on the show.

But it wasn’t long before the interview became very heated and uncomfortable as Kim accused Coleen of making her life “hell” and “bullying her with seven other people” during their time in the CBB house.

Coleen then spoke out, saying she agrees with Kim that she was “two-faced” with her in the house but claimed Kim “just wanted to have a go at people all the time”.

“I didn’t tell you how vile you were from day one which I should have done,” added Coleen, “You’re horrible and self-centered.”

Coleen’s sister Linda chipped in to suggest Kim had “no talent”, with Kim replying: “That shows how stupid you are.”

Kim also spoke about her “brutal, rotten” childhood and how “all the memories of those years came back with the bullying they were doing to me” on CBB.

As the chat became even more heated, Kim got up out of her seat and stormed off, telling Coleen she was a “con artist” and “lying trash”.

Following her appearance on the show, Kim released a statement saying she was “incredibly sad” and “disappointed” about the incident.

Her rep told ED!: “Kim was invited onto Loose Women as she was told Coleen wanted to hold peace talks with her.

“When she arrived this morning, Kim was briefed and told Coleen would speak first and give her reasons for their row. She was told Coleen wanted to bury the hatchet.”

They added: “However when Kim walked on set, Coleen refused to speak first and made Kim do all the talking. This left Kim on the spot and out of her depth.

“This incident has left Kim incredibly upset and she feels disappointed with what happened.”

However, a spokesperson for Loose Women said: “Kim agreed to come onto the panel today at the invitation of the producers on the understanding it was for a reconciliation with Coleen.

“Kim becoming upset was never the intention and the panel did endeavour to comfort her.  She was offered counselling after the show, which she declined.”

A rep for Coleen added: “For clarity – Coleen did not ask for Kim Woodburn to come on the show nor ask to be reunited with her – Loose Women organised the show. Coleen has no say in their choice of guests.

“Coleen stayed as calm as possible whilst being insulted live on air which was incredibly unpleasant.”

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
