Jeremy Kyle 'set for TV return for first time since death of guest'

The Jeremy Kyle Show was axed earlier this year

Jeremy Kyle is set to return to our screens next year, according to a new report.

Jeremy hasn't been on TV since May, when The Jeremy Kyle Show was axed after a guest, who allegedly failed a lie detector test, died of suspected suicide.

The Sun on Sunday claims that ITV are planning a television comeback for Jeremy, and that he could be back on television as soon as early next year.

"Jeremy is a huge ratings draw and he has a great relationship with ITV, who are very keen to bring him back.

“So it was only a matter of time. An ITV team have been told ‘find a format for Jeremy’ and that is what they are working hard to do," a source told the paper.

"We are expecting to have initial meetings about what they come up with in September, with the aim of then having Jeremy back on TV early next year," the source added.

The show, which ran for 14 years, has been criticised by the public and even MPs for humiliating guests with gimmicks such as lie detector tests, and for seemingly mocking the working class.

In June the House of Commons culture select committee opened an enquiry on the show.

Its chair Damian Collins MP, noted that he found the lack of the show's producers knowledge on the accuracy of lie detector tests "astonishing".

Jeremy has kept a low profile since the show's cancellation, and released a formal statement in May stating how "devastated" he was at the news of Steve Dymond's passing.
