Susanna Reid gets sympathy from GMB co-star after sad Valentine’s Day confession

No roses this year for Suse

With Valentine’s Day coming up, presenter Susanna Reid has claimed that she won’t be getting any gifts.

During a segment on cheap presents, ahead of the most romantic day of the year on 14th February, the Good Morning Britain host noticed their money expert, Martin Lewis, had brought in roses.

She told him: “I like that you’ve brought in flowers.”

Martin complained about the commercialisation of the day and how much it all costs.

Sitting alongside married men, Martin and Ben Shephard, Susanna said: “I find that nobody wants to spend loads of money on me on Valentine’s Day.”

Ben, 43, said supportively: “Do we believe that? No!” as Susanna pouted sadly at the camera.

She added: “Which is why I was rather glad about the flowers…”

Martin, 45, reassured her: “You’re a beautiful person… I’m sure lots of people will want to spend Valentine’s Day with you.”

The mum of three looked a bit awkward then, realising her co-hosts felt sorry for her and said: “I was only joking, Martin! Don’t take me so seriously.”

The Strictly star is single after splitting from partner of 16 years, Dominic Cotton, in 2014.

They’re parents to three sons: Finn, Sam and Jack.

Despite her joking, Susanna has insisted she doesn’t want to get married again.

She recently said on GMB: “I never wanted to be married and don’t want to change now… that’s it.

“I think I’ll probably at some stage hopefully have another relationship, but not marriage.”

And last September she told the Daily Mail’s Event magazine that she has dated since the break-up, but is currently single – and prefers it that way.

She said: “It’s just easier. I’ve got a really busy life. I’m up at a crazy time of the morning. My work is really intense, very enjoyable and very absorbing.

“I haven’t been single the entire time – and occasionally there are times when I’m not single – but dating is very distracting. I haven’t got time for it.”

She also pointed out that having children keeps her busy, saying: “I have three boys who need my full attention”, but added that she wasn’t anti-love, saying: “I’m not ruling it out. No, goodness me. Of course I’m not.”
