Richard Madeley claims Meghan ‘stepped into snake pit when she married Harry’

He said the couple's "honeymoon phase" with the public has faded

Richard Madeley has claimed the Duchess of Sussex “stepped into a snake pit” when she married Prince Harry.

Meghan, a former actress, gave up her Hollywood life to join the royal family when she tied the knot with Harry last year.

On Tuesday’s Good Morning Britain, stand-in host Richard admitted he “feels a bit sorry” for Meghan.

Richard and co-star Kate Garraway were holding a discussion around Nigel Farage criticising Meghan and Harry.

The policitian recently slammed the couple’s choice to only have two children to save the environment as “irrelevant”.

He also said Harry’s popularity has “fallen off a cliff” since marrying Meghan.

Richard said on the daytime show today: “Isn’t it extraordinary how the honeymoon with the public that Harry and Meghan had has faded so quickly.

“Pretty much in a year, it’s gone. Personally, I feel a bit sorry for Meghan I think she’s stepped into a snake pit. Diana stepped into a snake pit.

“I think she’s going to have to learn pretty sharpish how to play the odds down there because it’s a rough old world in the royal family when you’re that high profile.”

He added: “I think she’s learning now and I think it’ll get better for them.”

It comes after Nigel bashed the royal family during the Conservative Political Action Conference in Sydney, Australia.

He reportedly said: “Here was Harry… this young, brave, boisterous, all-male, getting into trouble, turning up at stag parties inappropriately dressed, drinking too much and causing all sorts of mayhem, and then, a brave British officer who did his bit in Afghanistan.

“He was the most popular royal of a younger generation that we’ve seen for 100 years. Then he met Meghan Markle , and it’s fallen off a cliff.”

He reportedly said of Harry’s vow to have only two kids with Meghan, Nigel said: “We’re completely ignoring the real problem the Earth faces… the fact the population of the globe is exploding but no one dares talk about it, no one dares deal with it.

“Whether Prince Harry has two kids is irrelevant, given there are 2.6 billion Chinese and Indians on Earth.”

He also criticised Prince Charles’ views on climate change and described the Queen’s late mother as “a chain-smoking, gin drinker”.
