Piers Morgan slams Eurovision’s Michael Rice for finishing last

The final took place this weekend

Piers Morgan has criticised Eurovision Song Contestant act Michael Rice for finishing last in this weekend’s final.

Michael, 21, nabbed just 16 points between the public vote and international jury vote for his song Bigger Than Us on Saturday night.

On Monday’s Good Morning Britain, Piers ripped into Michael’s vocals and said he wouldn’t get through the auditions of Britain’s Got Talent.

Piers ranted: “This is where we’ve got to, where everyone says, ‘Oh, he did so well. He couldn’t have done any better, it was all down to Brexit. It was Brexit that was the problem.’

“No, it was a terrible song.”

He added: “Well done mate, you came last. You flew the flag for Britain.”

Later in the show, Piers took another swipe at Michael’s singing skills.

He said: “He [Michael] sings terribly. He would have not got past the first round of Britain’s Got Talent.”

On Sunday, Michael spoke out following his loss and said “just so proud” of what he’s achieved.

Writing on social media, he told his followers: “Just want to say thank you for all the messages of support! Me and my team have smashed this whole entire journey and I’m just so proud.”

He continued: “I’m walking away with memories, friends, amazing fans and an experience of a lifetime! This is just the start. Thank you for believing in me.”

The Hartlepool native sang Bigger Than Us at the Expo Tel Aviv venue in Israel against a backdrop of a starry night sky and racing comets.

But his performance didn’t connect with the international audience and he finished in 26th place.
