GMB’s Kate Garraway chokes on a sausage live on air

Skit with Richard Arnold went a bit wrong!

Poor old Kate Garraway – working on Good Morning Britain is getting very bad for her health.

Yesterday, the mum-of-two went into temporary shock as a lifesize hedgehog mascot snogged her co-presenter Jeremy Kyle live on air.

And today, she suffered another heart-stopping episode when a lump of sausage got lodged in her throat.

The incident happened after Kate and Richard Arnold attempted to mimic a zookeeper who likes sharing sausages with his alligators, mouth to mouth.

The two hosts leaned towards each other to gobble down the banger, as if they were about to start snogging.

Then Kate made a sudden pincer movement, snapping the meaty snack into her mouth.

Everything seemed OK at first, but then the Oxfordshire-born star doubled up and began to splutter.

Ben Shephard gave her a whack on the back and said: “Are you alright?” while the rest of the panel pulled concerned faces.

Thankfully, she was, and after catching her breath, she rasped: “I nearly choked on a sausage on air then. It was almost one of those moments, wasn’t it?”

At that point, Arnold looked at the camera and quipped: “It’s a relief to the nation that your gag reflexes are still working.”

Kate let out a dirty laugh and said: “I put my all in that!”

It’s fair to say it’s been a mad old week on Good Morning Britain.

Apart from the aforementioned hedgehog incident, Garraway got into a playful spat with returning presenter Jeremy Kyle a couple of days ago.

After Kyle complained of her stroking him, she gave him a smack on the back.

Kyle responded by saying: “Stop hitting me, woman!”

Well, today it was Kate’s turn to get slapped – and that might just have saved her life.
