Viewers slam ‘grumpy’ BBC Breakfast host for blanking guest

Stony-faced presenter did not look impressed by odd question

BBC Breakfast viewers were left in stitches after ‘grumpy’ host Charlie Stayt was asked live on air where he buys his pants.

The bizarre moment came during a discussion about the impact of online shopping on the high street with broadcaster Tessa Dunlop.

Making a point about the convenience of purchasing essentials, Tessa asked: “Where do you get your knickers from, Charlie?”

Following a moment of awkward silence where Charlie completely blanked the question, the camera cut to a close up of just Tessa.

As she struggled to carry on without sniggering, co-host Tina Daheley could be heard off camera giggling.

“Any other stories….?” he asked after the strange enquiry.

But viewers at home were not convinced Charlie saw the funny side as he changed the subject.

Plenty of people watching were very amused by the cringeworthy scene, however.

One viewer though was enraged Tessa would dare be so ‘unprofessional’ and show such a lack of “respect” for Charlie’s underwear arrangements.

Still, one question remains: where does Charlie get his knickers?
