It will be a dark day for the character

It’s not going to be a happy Christmas for everyone on the cobbles this year.

ITV have released a new trailer for their Coronation Street festive special which reveals one character will end up begging for their life.

Sharing a sneak peek at the dramatic scenes via their Twitter account, the promo sees Peter Barlow threatening Billy Mayhew.

“Why hurt myself when I can hurt you?” he asks him.

Viewers are then shown Billy tied up in the boot of a car screaming: “Help me!”

Further details of the dramatic plot have been revealed today claiming Peter, played by Chris Gascoyne, will force vicar Billy to down bottles of vodka before tying him up and dumping him into the boot of a car.

It’s all for revenge after he discovers Billy was involved in the death of his twin sister Susan.

Billy will end up fearing for his life after he’s driven to a remote spot – so does Peter have murder in mind?

Daniel Brocklebank who plays Billy has said the scenes are certainly violent and he and Chris didn’t hold back when filming them.

He told The Sun he was “left black and blue” as “this particular storyline is much more physical” than anything he has ever done before.

But he said despite the pain he was in at times being crammed into a small space for “a couple of days” filming, he did still manage to enjoy himself.

“I just lay there and people would check on me occasionally and offer me a brew,” he said of filming.

“As dramatic as the scenes were, we had a ball shooting them,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Christmas Day promo also teases the return of Carla Connor and shows a number of characters getting romantic as they share a kiss on the cobbles.

There’s now less than a week for fans to wait to see the episode in full.
