This Morning viewers slam show’s increasingly weird guests

But Holly and Phil seemed to like it!

In a segment reminiscent of The X Files, a woman from Orlando showed up on This Morning today to recount her amazing tale of alien abduction.

Kathleen Marden appeared via satellite link claiming that her uncle and aunt had been holidaying in 1961 when they were approached by a hovering UFO.

According to the guest, the next thing the couple knew, they found themselves waking up having lost two hours of their lives.

And presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby seemed totally enthralled by the story. The viewers at home? Not so much.

Kathleen explained that her Uncle Barney and Aunt Betty had been driving through New Hampshire when they spotted a strange craft hovering around 100 feet above their car.

She claimed: “It was very large – as large as a dinner plate at arm’s length – and was observed by a dozen people as well as [my aunt and uncle].

“A red beam of light then came, and Barney ran to the car shouting: ‘We need to get out of here!’

“There was then a loud sound, and they woke up and realised they’d lost two hours of time.”

And the spooky story didn’t end there. Kathleen reckoned that when her aunt woke up, her dress was torn in several places and was covered with a strange pink powder.

So far, said Kathleen, analysis on the substance has proved inconclusive.

The couple had then undergone hypnosis, in which Betty recalled fighting for life – the cause of her ripped dress.

“Fascinating!” cried Holly as the woman concluded her tale.

“Well, that’s started our conversation today,” added Phillip.

And start a conversation it most certainly did – viewers at home were onto the story in a flash. And not in a very positive way.

One mocked on Twitter: “ET phone home… Oh, come on. Typical Americans – always got to go over the top. How did Holly and Phillip keep a straight face. Ridiculous.”

Another asked: “Does anyone else get abducted by aliens or is it just Americans?”

And a third tweeted: “Is it ‘get the crazy Americans on’ week once again? Another crazy claim from America. Wow, they need new hobbies.”

“Another American whackco. Haven’t we got any UK whackos?” said someone else.

Well, we thought the story was out of this world!
