This Morning viewers annoyed at latest Martin Lewis segment

He divided opinion with his topic on Monday's show

This Morning viewers weren’t happy with Martin Lewis’s segment on the show on Monday when he started talking about Christmas.

It’s only September, yet already the shops are filling up with mince pies and decorations and we’re less than 100 days away from the big day itself.

And for many fans of the show with the set up of Christmas tree, fake snow, and presents, it was all just a bit too much.

Even Martin himself knew he’d be set to face a backlash.

“Can I start with a semi-apology for using the ‘C’ word at this time of year,” he said.

“I hate the early creep of Christmas just as much as the next Scrooge, and I hate the idea we’re going to have Jingle Bells in the shops soon.

“But everything I want to talk about today is about things you need to do now in order to take some of the pain and stress and financial burden off when we get to the big day.

“This isn’t about celebrating early, this is about early planning.”

He went on to encourage people to save throughout the year as the average family spend £800 at Christmas.

Giving tips on exactly how to save that kind of cash, including switching bank accounts for payment, Martin was in his element.

Unfortunately, viewers weren’t so keen on hearing his tips so early in the year.

But there were a few who are already excited about Christmas.

They loved the fact the show was talking about it and said it was making them feel “festive”.
