This Morning sends Kate and William a baby gift (destined for the bin)

The package was delivered to Kensington Palace for the royal couple

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield have revealed This Morning sent a gift to Kensington Palace following the birth of the royal baby.

The pair opened Tuesday’s episode of This Morning by discussing the birth of the new prince on Monday.

The Duchess of Cambridge, 36, and husband Prince William, 35, welcomed their third child, a little boy, at 11.01am on Monday, before giving the world its first glimpse of the newborn just seven hours later.

Holly said: “It’s just so lovely isn’t it? When they walk out on those steps together… I look forward to it so much seeing them both together and presenting their new baby.”

She went on to acknowledge Kate and William are now embarking on a new life with three children, prompting Phillip to explain that This Morning has “thought ahead” and sent some goodies to the palace!

A video then played showing a messenger carrying a branded This Morning basket past Kensington Palace and handing it to two police officers outside the gates.

Phillip explained: “As the Cambridges adapt to being a family of five, the basket includes a babygro, two dressing gowns for William and Kate, and two mugs for them to have a cuppa while the family enjoy today’s programme.”

He then quipped the gift would no doubt go “right in the bin!”

Holly chided: “Don’t say that! They might be watching This Morning! We hope you’re enjoying your tea.”

The pair later discussed Kate and William’s photocall with their newborn outside the Lindo Wing at St.Mary’s Hospital in London.

Holly said: “Kate is extraordinary! She is amazing, isn’t she? She’s like super woman! No swollen ankles. I remember giving birth and being, like, puffy!”

She then said little Princess Charlotte, two, had “stolen the show” with her wave.

William left the hospital briefly on Monday afternoon to drive back to Kensington Palace to collect George, four, and Charlotte and bring them back to the hospital to meet their brother.

Meanwhile, astrologer Russell Grant also appeared on the show to reveal what the newborn baby’s star chart says about him.

“April 23 2018 is a really lovely thread going through here with the whole royal family,” he said.

“There is a lot of strong Cancerian energy which links up with Diana, which links up with William, which links up with young George. It’s a very traditional sign, very family orientated, connects with the family, very emotional.

“But there’s a lot of showiness here too. The moon, which is the emotional side of the chart, is in Leo. He’’s going to Prince Charming. He is going to be a wonderful sweet talker. This is a very beautiful chart. The Taurean links with his sister and the Queen. There is this amazing bond.”
