Ruth was left blushing

A This Morning viewer saw the perfect opportunity to let Eamonn Holmes know that he’s punching above his weight with wife Ruth Langsford!

During the phone-in segment on Friday’s show, viewer Graham rang in to take part in the day’s topic of conversation about whether you should remain friends with an ex.

After telling the hosts about how his ex is now “great friends” with his wife, Graham told Eamonn just how lucky he should feel about being married to Ruth.

As Graham was about to get cut off, he said: “I must say Eamonn, you are batting well above your average there!”

Ruth was left slightly flustered as she said: “Like it Graham, you’ve gone right up in my estimation!”

But Eamonn was quick to make a joke about his wife.

He quipped: “Like most of them, she hangs her fiddle at the door! You should try and live with her. Then you would appreciate it.”

“It’s not true,” Ruth added.

Ruth and Eamonn, who tied the knot in 2010, have become well-known for spilling secrets of their relationship and for their on-air bickering on the show.

Just last week, Eamonn was left unimpressed after Ruth forgot their wedding date.

Ruth made her confession during the show’s fashion segment, which saw stylist Trinny Woodall share her advice on what to wear (and not wear!) to a wedding.

Speaking about his wedding to Ruth, Eamonn said: “We got married in June and it was the hottest day of the year.”

He then asked his wife: “And the date was?”

Ruth replied: “The 30th of June,” to which Eamonn said: “No it wasn’t. It was the 26th of June.”

Realising she had actually got it wrong, Ruth said: “It was the 26th of June,” as she burst into laughter.

“I’m so bad,” Ruth added, putting her cue card over her face.

“There it is, live on national television,” Eamonn said. “Ruth Langsford not knowing when she was married.”
