The odds are looking good for Coronation Street’s Phelan being alive, according to bookies

Is he alive? Is he dead? Viewers and the bookies suspect he's going to return

Many viewers suspect it and now bookies have put their weight behind the possibility that Pat Phelan has survived to kill another day in Coronation Street.

The cobbles serial killer – played by Connor McIntyre – was stamped into the freezing, choppy sea by wife Eileen Grimshaw in a terrifying stand-off last week.

But now the bookies have given good odds on that he’s alive and kicking and ready to kill again.

A Paddy Power spokesman revealed the odds on him being alive are 1/2 and said: “He’s arguably the show’s greatest ever baddie, and we reckon the producers won’t want to kill him off just yet. At least, we hope not.”

All this speculation doesn’t stop the soap wheels of justice rolling as Eileen will find herself arrested for his murders tonight.

With the police discovering the identities of the two bodies Phelan buried in the concrete pillars at The Old Mill, they will soon put two and two together to get 47 and decide Eileen must have been his accomplice.

She will be charged with the double murders of Andy Carver and Vinny Ashford.

It was previously revealed that Eileen would gain support from an unlikely ally in the aftermath of Phelan being exposed.

Normally at each other’s throats, literally in some cases, Eileen and Gail Platt have never seen eye to eye.

But now, despite the news that Phelan watched her husband Michael Rodwell, die, Gail will be one of the few people who knows what Eileen is going through.

Her own husband, Richard Hillman, conned and murdered some of their neighbours back in 2003.

Corrie boss Kate Oates told The Sun how Gail and fellow widow of a killer, Fiz State, will lend their support to Eileen as Weatherfield turns on her.

She said: “There are some scenes that have been shot. It is a good hook up with Gail.”

Kate added: “And also with Fiz, because let’s face it, they’ve all been through it.”
