Susanna Reid embarrassed by Good Morning Britain blunder after her phone goes off on air

You'd think she would know better!

Rule number one of television – never take your phone on set!

So you’d think that a seasoned pro like Susanna Reid would know that, or at least would keep it on silent.

But on Good Morning Britain this morning, Susanna was left mortified as a mobile bleeped live on air and she realised it was actually hers!

As co-host Piers Morgan was talking about the centenary of women getting the right to vote, the phone chirped to signal an alert.

As Susanna suddenly realised it was her mobile, she grabbed the phone, desperately trying to work out how to silence the device, saying: “Oh excuse me.”

As you can imagine, Piers was not impressed by the phone not being on silent, or the fact that his co-host had interrupted what he was saying.

“Is that your phone?” he moaned at Susanna. “In the middle of my Suffragette speech?”

The 47-year-old sheepishly responded: “I know, it’s terrible isn’t it? Can I take it off set?”

Oh Susanna!

As she handed the smartphone over to a member of the crew, Piers added: “Yes, if you wouldn’t mind removing Susanna’s phone – it’s very unprofessional.”

She admitted that it was a new phone and she hadn’t quite worked out how to use it properly yet and apologised again.

But Piers couldn’t help himself and added: “It’s pretty obvious how to work it. Now I’ll go back to my Suffragette speech!”

Viewers didn’t seem to mind though as they took to social media…
