Strictly stars vow to get matching tattoos

Popular pair will get inked after hitting their target

| Updated:

When it comes to dancing, having good chemistry with your partner is key. And Strictly colleagues Susan Calman and Kevin Clifton have clearly decided that the best way to obtain that chemistry is by agreeing to get matching TATTOOS.

Back in September, Susan, 43, promised on social media that she would get an “I love Grimsby” tattoo – in honour of Kevin’s birthplace – if the duo reached the Tower Ballroom stage.

And now that they’ve made it through to this weekend’s Blackpool shows, the Scottish comedian says that she fully intends to honour her pledge.

But not only that – Kevin, 35, is planning on getting one, too!

Appearing alongside Kevin on last night’s It Takes Two, Susan beamed: “I’m going to get an ‘I love Grimsby’ tattoo on my foot.”

And Kevin, who’s already inked with another design, revealed: “I promised to get my heart tattoo turned into ‘I Love Grimsby’ – so I’ve got to do that, too.”

However, fans of the likeable pair needn’t worry that the painful process will hamper their chances in the competition – they won’t be getting the artwork done until they’ve been voted off the competition.

Susan explained: “The last thing you want is an open wound on your foot [when you’re dancing].”

Back when this series of Strictly started, the comedian made her brave vow on Twitter.

She told her fans: “If we get to Blackpool, I’ve promised @keviclifton that I’ll get ‘I love Grimsby’ tattooed on my foot. Make it so, British public. Make it so.”

We like to think that viewers have backed Susan and Kevin because of their dancing, and not simply because they wanted Susan’s promise to come to fruition.

However, now that we’re into the business end of the competition, the pair are really going to have to up their game.

Susan put her all into the couple’s tango on Saturday night – so much so that Bruno compared her serious expression to TV’s Doctor Foster.

But Craig Revel Horwood wasn’t entirely sold on the performance. He sneered: “‘Your posture is the main thing that bothered me. Your feet weren’t closing. Your face looked in pain.”

With Ruth Langsford and Anton du Beke out of the competition, Susan and Kevin are now joint favourites to be voted off the show alongside Jonnie Peacock and Oti Mabuse.

But whatever happens, those tattoos are now guaranteed (we hope!).
