Strictly star’s dad drops hint at dance floor romance

Dad's say the funniest things

Parents can be embarrassing at the best of times, but when you’re a star of Strictly Come Dancing, there’s even greater potential for clangers.

Just ask AJ Pritchard, the dance professional who is Saturdays’ singer Mollie King’s partner in this year’s celebrity dancing competition.

There have been plenty of rumours about the pair of singletons becoming more than just dance partners, but neither of the stars themselves have decided to comment.

However, that didn’t stop AJ’s dad, Adrian, a dance professional himself who runs a dance academy and took part in the original Come Dancing series and taught AJ and his fellow Strictly dancer Chloe Hewitt all they know, from having his say.

“AJ and Mollie are having a lot of fun,” said Adrian, 60 told The Mirror. “They’ve really bonded.

“AJ has told me Mollie is great to be with. She works very hard and she has a great personality.”

AJ’s dad didn’t stop there either, and went on to compare the duo to ‘a married couple’!

“Anybody would like Mollie, she is a very beautiful lady, she has a great personality – what is there not to like?” Adrian continued. “They are spending more time with each other than a married couple would do.

“They are going for coffees together and strolls in the parks in London whenever they have breaks from the training.”

In fact, Adrian even had something to say on the subject of whether Mollie and AJ are already secretly together, doing nothing to quell rumours of yet another Strictly romance.

“People have their opinions about whether they are now an item – you will have to ask AJ about that,” he said. “But I think she’s great. I have met Mollie after every show. She is very nice, very easy to talk to.”

Speculation over their relationship status certainly hasn’t hampered their dancing efforts, and the couple put in yet another strong performance last night.

Dancing the Viennese Waltz to Cilla Black’s Anyone Who Had A Heart, Mollie and AJ bagged 24 points from a possible 30 in the absence of judge Bruno Tonioli.

That left them in the top half of the leaderboard and looking good for another week. Let’s hope they go the distance so we can hear plenty more from AJ’s dad!
