Strictly Come Dancing star Mollie King’s ‘inappropriate’ appearance on The X Factor

Who knew?!

She’s been wowing us all on Strictly Come Dancing, with her smooth moves making her one of the favourites for the title.

But it turns out Mollie King also has a history with Strictly’s big Saturday night rival show, as it emerges she auditioned for The X Factor twice.

The bubbly blonde, who found fame as a member of girl band The Saturdays, first tried out for the singing show back in 2005.

But judge Sharon Osbourne really wasn’t impressed by the 18-year-old’s skimpy outfit, telling her it was “totally inappropriate”.

Mollie wore tiny white hot pants and a metallic vest with high heels, as she performed the raunchy classic I Just Wanna Make Love To You by Etta James.

While Simon Cowell clearly liked what he was seeing, straight-talking Sharon clearly wasn’t a fan.

“I think you’re dressed totally inappropriately,” she said.

While wide-eyed Simon replied: “Well, that didn’t bother me too much…”

Either way, Mollie didn’t impress the X Factor judges enough to make it through.

When she returned the following year as part of girl band Fallen Angelz – wearing more clothes – Mollie made it through to boot camp before being axed.

The 30-year-old is definitely doing much better on Strictly.

Mollie has been impressing the judges with her routines with professional partner AJ Pritchard and last week earned eights from all the judges.

This weekend she’ll be performing a cha cha cha in the Hallowe’en special.

Although she has been forced to rehearse with stand-in partners, as AJ has been bedridden with a nasty bug.

Strictly returns to BBC1 this Saturday at 6.35pm.
