Sexy singer is pulling on her dancing shoes

Finally, the moment we’ve all been waiting for, after weeks of waiting to hear which celebrity would be confirmed first for the new series of Strictly Come Dancing, we now know who it is.

The BBC has revealed that Mollie King, a singer from The Saturdays, will be entering the dance competition.

The news was announced this morning on Nick Grimshaw’s breakfast show on BBC Radio One.

Mollie, 30, was live on Nick’s show when it was announced and she said: “I’m so excited! I’ve known quite a while but so happy I can now tell people, because I’m so rubbish at keeping secrets!”

Mollie couldn’t contain her happiness as she revealed to Nick: “I’m a huge fan of Strictly Come Dancing so I can’t actually believe I’m lucky enough to be taking part in it this year!

“I’m literally so excited to learn Latin and ballroom dancing, and of course I can’t wait to get into the sequins too!

“It’s going to be a lot of hard work but I’m ready for the challenge!”

She also admitted that she fully intends to work hard and get as far as she can in the competition.

“It’s something that I always said I wanted to do,” she added. “I’ve always watched it with my family and it looks so fun.

“I’m going to be giving it my all. I’m very competitive so watch out, other contestants, I’m taking you down!”

Mollie will be following in her fellow band member’s footsteps, as Frankie Bridge was on Strictly Come Dancing three years ago and finished runner-up to TV presenter Caroline Flack.

Mollie told her friend and band mate Frankie that she was going to be on the hit BBC show earlier this month.

“She was so excited she had to pull over the car and stop,” Mollie laughed.

There was speculation about Mollie joining the show last month, as a so-called source told The Sun: “Mollie is all signed up and will be this year’s Strictly babe.

“She’s a talented performer because of all her experience with The Saturdays and her solo career — so she’s someone who is very likely to make it to the final rounds.

“Producers loved the sex appeal and performance skills of Daisy last year and believe Mollie offers the same.

“She’s also very well connected and has a lot of celebrity friends who will attend filming each week.”

Strictly Come Dancing celebrates its 15th series this year and it’s thought it will be broadcast from September.
