Strictly Come Dancing reportedly signs first celebrity for NEXT year

We haven't even got through the 2017 series yet!

Strictly Come Dancing is still only half-way through its 2017 series but already talk has turned to just which celebrities will be hitting the dance floor NEXT year!

Yes, really!

It seems like producers are already scoping out famous faces who may be interested in competing for that Glitter Ball Trophy – and there’s one name firmly at the top of their list.

Who, you ask?

Well, it’s none other than Great British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain!

According to The Sun, the mother-of-three is top of Strictly bosses’ wish-list for the 2018 series and they are pulling out all the stops to secure her.

A source said: “Producers have openly said how much they would like to get Nadiya on the show.

“They think she’d be a great fit and is hugely popular with BBC audiences.”

Apparently, they’ve already been wooing her by giving her the full A-list treatment during a recent visit to Elstree Studios to watch the show being filmed.

Exciting!

Also, rather premature given we’re only on week eight of the 2017 series!

It’s been a shocking week for Strictly fans after bookies’ favourite Aston Merrygold was dramatically sent home on Sunday night in a result that stunned everyone.

Despite being tipped as a frontrunner to make the final, the JLS star was given his marching orders after falling into the bottom two and dancing off against Mollie King.

He didn’t have a great weekend after receiving a miserable four points from judge Craig Revel Horwood on Saturday, then being sent home on Sunday by Craig and head judge Shirley Ballas, who used her deciding vote to seal his fate.

So much drama!

While we’re all still reeling from the whole thing, Aston’s said he’s just happy to have taken part in the show.

“I’m honestly gutted but, I mean, you have to take it on the chin as it’s such a brilliant show and, as I’ve said from day one, if I ever was to leave, I’m just happy I got to do it in the first place,” he told It Takes Two this week.

“And to do it with Janette was such a pleasure. I’m just happy to have done the show.”

His pro partner Janette Manrara, meanwhile, said Aston’s shock exit was a wake-up call that viewers need to vote for their favourites.

“More than ever, and especially this season and seeing what happened to Aston, you have to vote for your favourites,” she said.

“You can never assume just because someone is a front runner and getting certain scores that they are safe. If you love them, vote for them!”

Wise words, Janette!
