Strictly Come Dancing in fresh ‘fix’ claims

Are the judges really doing this?

Strictly Come Dancing has come under fire for being a fix after fresh claims.

The Sun reports that Susan Calman is being “rewarded” by the judges with higher marks because she’s signed up for the nationwide tour.

It happens every year and this year has been no different as fans called ‘fix’ over Aston Merrygold’s departure from the competition in week seven.

The viewers were stunned to see the popular contestant leave and insisted the judges must have been forced to vote for him to go.

And now some believe Susan is being marked higher than she should be to keep her around for longer.

The Strictly tour, which is a popular part of the franchise, will also see Jonnie Peacock return to the ballroom.

Apparently, the show wants to ensure Susan stays in as long as possible as it’ll prove better for the tour.

An insider explained to the publication: “The theory is that she’s agreed to the tour, which is a big money-spinner, and bosses want her in the show for as long as possible.

“Susan is a nice woman,” the source continued, “and a lot of fun, but she’s plainly not among the top dancers.

“Some of the stronger stars such as Aston Merrygold, weren’t afforded the same treatment despite their talent.”

Susan, and her dance partner Kevin Clifton, have been firm fan favourites throughout the series and have been a joy to watch with their inventive routines.

It’s clear the comedian is loving her dancing experience, but recently she was forced to take a day off social media to rediscover her “joy” after a series of negative messages from online trolls.

The comedian, 42, said she needed a break after receiving unpleasant comments about her weight and her moves on the dancefloor.

She told her 137,000 followers on the site: “Thanks for all the lovely tweets. As for the not so nice ones 1) I know I’m not thin 2) I’m not the best dancer.

“And that’s ok with me.”

She said in a second tweet: “I’m not the most self confident person and I do take things personally.

“Taking the day off here to build up the joy again. Back soon xx.”

Calman returned to Twitter after a few hours to make it clear that her messages were not spoilers for Sunday night’s results show, when fans will find out the latest celebrity to be eliminated from the BBC competition.

“Popped back on here just to be clear I haven’t posted any spoilers.

“None of my tweets relate to the results. I would never do that,” she insisted.

Later she assured her followers that she had “found my joy”, tweeting a sweet picture of dozing cats that warmed fans’ hearts.

“I agree that is what joy looks like. I myself have a similar version,” one follower tweeted.

Another said: “We love you. They love you. All’s good.”
