Strictly Come Dancing fans go wild as A-list superstar makes a surprise appearance

Viewers couldn't hide their excitement

Strictly Come Dancing fans went wild tonight when they spotted JK Rowling in the audience.

The Harry Potter author travelled to Blackpool to lend her support to friend Susan Calman as she competed on the BBC show and it's safe to say that viewers were a little bit excited.

One tweeted: "JK ROWLING'S IN THE AUDIENCE IM SCREAMING #Strictly."

Another gushed: "A wild JK Rowling on Strictly has made my night!"

"Seeing @jk_rowling proudly watching in the Strictly audience, supporting @SusanCalman is one of the most lovely sights I've seen this year!" tweeted a third.

But it wasn't just JK Rowling who showed up to support Susan as her wife was also joined in the audience by fellow best-selling authors Muriel Gray and Val McDermid.

Meanwhile, Alexandra Burke and Gorka performed the Quickstep to The Gold Diggers' Song from 42nd Street, Debbie McGee and Giovanni danced the Samba to a Spice Girls medley, while Gemma Atkinson and Alijaz did the American Smooth to Petula Clark's Downtown.

Mollie King and AJ danced the Charleston to Little Mix's hit Wings, Susan Calman and partner Kevin performed their Paso Doble to Strictly Ballroom, and Davood and Nadiya did the same dance to Bond theme Live and Let Die by Paul McCartney.

Joe McFadden and Katya took on the Salsa to Black Box's Ride On Time and Jonnie Peacock and Oti performed the Tango to Sweet Dreams by Eurythmics.

Last week Ruth Langsford and partner Anton found themselves eliminated.
