Corrie’s Eileen Grimshaw is about to get the shock of her life next week when her ‘dead’ husband, murdering builder Pat Phelan shows up at her house – brandishing a gun.
Pat’s back to get revenge on all those he feels have wronged him, and has something of a bone to pick with Eileen who kicked him into the ocean and left him for dead.
But of course Eileen isn’t the first soap lady to have fallen in love with a very bad man. Take a look at this lot. They really should’ve known better.
Chas Dingle
She may well be with wouldn’t-hurt-a-fly Paddy Kirk now, but Chas has a whole catalogue of questionable men in her past. There’s Carl King, who killed his own father, tried to blackmail and rape her and Cameron Murray who wasn’t only a love rat, but a serial killer to boot.
And OBVIOUSLY there was Gordon Livesy, who sexually abused their son Aaron from the age of eight. Stick with Paddy, love.
Debbie Dingle
Like her Auntie Chas, Debs has always had her head turned by a bad boy. Recently, of course, there’s been Joe Tate and Ross Barton – both of whom have murky sides. But her most dangerous lover by far was Cameron who clocked up a body count of three – including Debbie’s own half-aunt, Gennie Sharma.
He also held her hostage on two occasions and tried to drown her. So we’re pretty sure she can handle Joe.
Gail Platt
You wouldn’t think that underneath Richard Hillman’s smooth suited and booted exterior there was an evil serial killer with a heart of stone.
Richard killed three people – including the lovely Maxine Peacock – before trying to off the entire Platt family by driving them into the canal.
Fortunately, everyone apart from him managed to escape. But Gail now believes he has cursed the family from beyond the grave.
Belle Dingle
What is it with these Dingle women and serial killers? Not only were Chas and Debbie both involved with killer Cameron, now Belle is with twisted Lachlan White who isn’t even 20 and has a body count of three.
Gerry Roberts was his most recent victim following the deaths of Lawrence and Chrissie earlier this year. And now it looks like Belle is pregnant with his child.
This will NOT end well.
Peggy Mitchell
Soap villains don’t get much worse than Archie Mitchell, let’s be honest. He raped his own daughter, before taking her baby away and telling her it had died.
He raped a vulnerable Stacey Slater while she was in the throes of bi-polar. He even managed to con equally unpleasant Janine Butcher out of the Queen Vic, throwing her out on the street in just her undies.
Nice fella.
Chrissie Watts

In all honesty Chrissie Watts could more than hold her own against her cheating villain of a husband, Den who – during their marriage tried getting his son’s young girlfriend pregnant so she could pass the baby off as her boyfriend’s. Ick.
In the end Chrissie had the last laugh when she murdered Den (who’d already been murdered once) in a fit of rage, before burying his body in the cellar of The Vic.
