She’s even round herself on the receiving end of enthusiastic boos from the crowd on occasion.

Asked if she would return to the Strictly set for next year’s season, all Shirley would say was: “I’ll take one day at a time right now, I’ll just take one day at a time.”

She went on to claim she had been enjoying her time on the show, before dropping her head into her hands and saying: “It’s been a whirlwind!”

Shirley recently opened up about her friendships with her fellow judges.

She claimed Craig Revel Horwood was “just a pussycat and mad as a hatter,” while also being genuinely affectionate towards his colleagues.

”He sent me flowers when it was my birthday,” she added. “He spoils me rotten, he’s lovely.”

She also said Darcey Bussell was “motherly” and went on to say she is “so beautiful, she is genuinely such a sweetheart”.

“It was just outside his dressing room and I think he just had some friends visiting.’’
